ITF Transforms into World Tennis, Targets 30% Growth in Global Participation

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) became World Tennis on June 25, 2026—a watershed moment for an organization that has governed the sport globally since 1913. The rebrand signals a fundamental shift: an all-in bet on expanding tennis participation worldwide and securing the investment needed to grow the game at every level.

World Tennis now oversees 214 national tennis associations. The numbers behind its growth ambition are striking. The organization wants to push global participation from 106 million players to 140 million by 2035—that’s more than a 30 percent jump. To make it happen, World Tennis committed to putting at least 85% of all annual income back into the sport for the next decade.

Five priorities form the foundation of this plan: grow participation, develop future champions, elevate the official nations competitions, build a sport ready for tomorrow, and attract the investment the game needs. David Haggerty, the new President, and Chief Executive Ross Hutchins will lead the charge.

Connecting with fans and players sits at the heart of the rebrand. World Tennis launched its first-ever Global Tennis Fan Survey. Participants got a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 2026 Davis Cup Finals in Bologna, Italy.

The organization also committed to strengthening the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and World Team Cup—a signal that elite competition and grassroots growth go hand in hand.
