Sergei Goncharov has been nominated by the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation to run for the IIHF Council. The election will happen at the organization’s congress, scheduled for 30 September to 2 October.
Goncharov’s resume speaks for itself. He spent five years on the IIHF Council from 2016 to 2021, where he led the IIHF Officiating Committee. Earlier in his career, he served on the IIHF Competition Committee from 2008 to 2016. At home, he worked as Vice Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.
The refreshed council will have 15 seats: one President, one Senior Vice-President, three Regional Vice-Presidents, and ten additional members.
