The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Kyle Burroughs to a one-year, two-way contract. General Manager Jim Nill announced the signing, saying Burroughs will “bring a physical element to the ice and provide our defensive core with some added depth.”

The 30-year-old spent the 2025-26 season with the Ontario Reign, Los Angeles Kings’ AHL affiliate. In 18 games with the Reign, he recorded seven points (1-6—7)—a 0.39 points-per-game average that led all Reign defensemen and stands as an AHL career high.

At 6 feet and 193 pounds, Burroughs brings real NHL mileage to Dallas: 201 career regular-season games with 22 points (5-17—22). His peak came in 2023-24 with the San Jose Sharks, when he posted career highs of 6 assists and 8 points.

What makes Burroughs stand out is his willingness to throw weight around. He tied for 16th in the NHL in 2023-24 with 233 hits—a career high—and has racked up 572 hits and 293 blocked shots over his NHL tenure.

A Vancouver, British Columbia native, Burroughs was drafted by the New York Islanders in the seventh round (196th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. Before landing in Dallas, he suited up for the Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings.
