Sinner defeats Djokovic to reach Wimbledon final

Обновлено: 11.07.26 Posted by: Vladimir

Jannik Sinner swept past Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon semi-final on Friday. Playing on Centre Court, the 24-year-old world number one won 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in just two hours and 20 minutes—a clean, commanding display that gave Djokovic no foothold.

Sinner, the defending Wimbledon champion, now advances to Sunday’s final to face Alexander Zverev.

The contrast with Djokovic’s quarter-final was striking. The Serbian legend had spent five grueling hours against Felix Auger-Aliassime to get here. Against Sinner, he found nothing to grip. The first set lasted 40 minutes.

Djokovic enters this loss with an extraordinary record: seven Wimbledon titles and 24 Grand Slams to his name. He had reached the semi-finals or better in six of his previous seven Grand Slams. Yet at nearly 40, Friday’s defeat represents a watershed moment in his pursuit of further glory at the All England Club.

Sinner carries a formidable edge into the final. He has won his last nine meetings with Zverev.
