Planning for the new project began in early May. Mourinho’s tactical blueprint centres on a 4-2-3-1 system, which has shaped every recruitment decision. The rebuild addresses a critical vulnerability: an ageing defence that lost two pillars simultaneously.<\/p>\n
Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, both 34 years old, departed without offers of contract extensions. That exit opened a window for fresh blood. Marc Cucurella is arriving from Chelsea in a deal worth up to \u20ac60 million. The 27-year-old left-back will compete with Ferland Mendy, 31, who is sidelined with a thigh injury until November.<\/p>\n
On the right flank, Denzel Dumfries\u201430 years old\u2014is available via his \u20ac20 million release clause at Inter. Midfield ambitions show mixed signals. Enzo Fernandez, the 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder and Argentina international, prefers Madrid\u2014but Chelsea expect around \u00a3120 million. Mateus Fernandes, 21, a Portugal midfielder at West Ham, faces competition from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham.<\/p>\n
Younger prospects populate the wish list. Ayyoub Bouaddi, 18, is a Morocco international at Lille\u2014who qualified for next season’s Champions League and would demand around \u20ac80 million. Kees Smit, 20, at AZ, carries a \u20ac60 million asking price.<\/p>\n
Madrid hold a \u20ac9 million buyback option on Nico Paz, a 20-year-old Argentina midfielder at Como, with a deadline of June 30. Como have qualified for the Champions League, and Paz is contracted until 2028.<\/p>\n
Dani Ceballos, 29, wants to leave on a free transfer\u2014his contract expires in 2027\u2014marking the third summer both he and Madrid have explored a move. Aurelien Tchouameni, 26, had a dressing-room fight with Federico Valverde in May, though Valverde is not on the market and does not want to leave. Eduardo Camavinga, 23, remains in the squad.<\/p>\n
